Cultural Exchange & Preservation Committee

The chair of the Cultural Exchange & Preservation Committee is Kasim Amadu.

This committee is dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Ghanaian community in Donegal, Ireland by creating safe spaces for mutual understanding & dialogue between members of the Ghanaian & non-Ghanaian communities in Donegal.

Mission

Our goal is to create opportunities for cultural exchange between Ghanaians, other communities including the local Irish community, fostering understanding and appreciation for Ghanaian traditions, music, dance, art, and cuisine.

We also aim to empower individuals from different ethnic Ghanaian backgrounds to share and celebrate their diversity together, creating a positive impact as Ghanaians a whole.

Mandate:

Through our efforts, we aim to strengthen the sense of identity and pride among Ghanaians living in Donegal while promoting cultural diversity and inclusivity in the wider community.

The committee's mandate includes:

  • Promote cultural diversity and inclusivity in Donegal.

  • Foster mutual understanding among different cultures and communities living together in Donegal.

  • Facilitate cooperation between Ghanaians living in Donegal and other counties 

  • Deepen the sense of unity among Ghanaian residents in Donegal through cultural activities and initiatives.

Goals & Objectives

The cultural exchange and preservation committee aims to organise a range of events and activities designed to bring all Ghanaians together, facilitate intercultural exchange as well as promote inclusivity in the local community. Our goals include:




    • Organizing and hosting cultural events to showcase Ghanaian traditions, music, and dance.

    • Facilitating cultural exchange programs with other communities to promote understanding and appreciation of Ghanaian culture.

    • Offer support to members of the Ghanaian community while encouraging their active participation in Irish society.

    • Conduct workshops on traditional Ghanaian arts and crafts, clothing, and cuisine.

    • Celebrate and share the amazing culture of Ghana with events showcasing traditional music, dance, and more.

    • Promote an appreciation of the unique cultural heritage of Ghanaian-Irish society in Donegal.
